Saturday, 28 October 2017
Ex Brisbane the vehicle is loaded with 200Lts water, 200 Lts Fuel, 60 Lts fuel in jerry cans, food for 10 days, tools, and camping equipment etc, so the weight would be just under 5,000Kg.
The Super Single wheels with 37 x 12.5 R17 tyres are set for on-road pressure of 45PSI ( Cold ) or 50 PSI ( Hot )..
Lets go !
End of Day 2 and we have had enough of the driving so camped at the old JC Pub Ruins between Windorah and Birdsville.
We do not need power, so it is great to just pull over anywhere and make camp.
First a test flight of the Drone.....all good, so it’s a hot shower and a cold Beer !
...Perfect,
The road is now corrugated gravel so we drop the tyre pressures to 35 PSI ( cold) / 40PSI ( hot )
Now it is a comfortable ride at 80KPH.
A new tourist attraction near Betoota
Made from various rocks from the surrounding shire.
Fuel Brisbane to Birdsville over the 1705Kms was 16.91 Lt/100Kms
We were pushing the speed and sat between 90 and 110 KPH most of the way, with the maximum according to the GPS at 116KPH.
